The College Football Playoff schedule will use its current 12-team format for a third consecutive season, with a major change to its television coverage. For the first time, one game from each round will be simulcast on ABC, giving fans without cable an over-the-air option. TNT Sports will also have a bigger role, including its first CFP semifinal.
Bowls Game Selection Day is set for Sunday, Dec. 6, when the full 12-team bracket, seeds and four first-round matchups will be announced. The playoff will then feature four rounds over 39 days before the national championship is played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Monday, Jan. 25.

College Football Playoff First round schedule, Dates, times and TV channels
The college football playoff schedule begins with one primetime matchup on Friday, Dec. 18, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. The remaining three first-round games will be played Saturday, Dec. 19, as part of an all-day tripleheader. All four first-round games will be hosted by the higher-seeded teams, meaning the exact locations will not be known until the bracket is revealed on Dec. 6.

After the conclusion of College football playoff schedule of first round games, The quarterfinals will take place at four traditional bowl sites.
The Fiesta Bowl kicks things off Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 7:30 p.m. ET. The remaining three quarterfinals will be played on Jan. 1 at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential.
The New Year’s Day Schedule has three time, incl.. noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. ET that will be determined on Selection Day, Dec. 6.

After the Quarters of College football playoff schedule, The semifinals will follow on consecutive weeknights. The Capital One Orange Bowl in Miami Gardens is set for Thursday, Jan. 14, at 7:30 p.m. ET and will mark TNT Sports’ first CFP semifinal broadcast.
